lnformation Systems and Innovation

Welcome to the Department of Information Systems and Innovation.

Our Vision
To be the centre of excellent research and teaching in Information Systems in Africa, based on innovation and dissemination of knowledge and technology, through studies of public and private sector issues and practices.

Our Mission
We educate people to think and practice Information Systems at individual, organisational, national, and global levels; to effectively develop, manage, and enhance Information Systems for better decision making; and to address the needs of Information Systems knowledge and innovation in Ghana, Africa, and beyond.

Our Core Values
1. Quality challenges us to pursue the highest standards of innovation and dissemination of knowledge and technology pertaining to Information Systems.

2. Excellence challenges us to apply rigour, imagination, and creativity in our Information Systems teaching and research programmes.

3. Connectedness challenges us to be relevant and valuable to GIMPA and all our stakeholders by collaborating with diverse entities in Ghana, Africa and beyond.

Based its vision, mission and core values, the department offers a wide range of Management Information Systems (MIS) degree programmes from Bachelor to Master of Philosophy. MIS as an academic discipline and profession is a hybrid of information, technology and non-technology resources viewed as a system.

The thinking and practice of MIS manifest in the analysis, design, management, implementation and maintenance of information technologies such as software applications, databases, devices, and networks. Our faculty members are dedicated to high-quality teaching for high-quality student-centred learning.

The high-quality teaching by our faculty members derives from the high-quality research we undertake. We have diverse research interests in the areas of digital infrastructures, multi-sided platforms, identity systems, financial technologies, digital service innovation, and mobile informatics.
It is our pleasure to provide our students many opportunities to gain academic and professional competence and excellence. Welcome again to the Department of Information Systems and Innovation.
