RESEARCH WRITING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

The GIMPA Department of Economics is organizing a 2-day training workshop for masters and Ph.D students on thesis/dissertation writing. Unlike a typical course in Research Methods, this programme is targeted and totally hands-on, and on point, ensuring that participants leave with clear improvement in research writing competence. Topics covered in the workshop include:

  • Writing brilliant abstracts and introduction sections
  • Writing excellent problem statements and justification for a study
  • Writing research Aims/objectives correctly
  • Best approaches to writing the literature review
  • Sampling and Sample sizes
  • Writing the results/discussions/conclusions sections
  • Role of the Conceptual Framework and how to develop a good one to add value to your research
  • Connecting the conceptual framework to the econometric model
  • Functional form choices/alternative data modelling approaches
