The Greenhill campus of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration has held its 16th matriculation ceremony.
A total of 1,025 were matriculated at the short ceremony to pursue various degree programmes in five schools namely; Business school, School of Public Service and Governance, School of Liberal Arts and Social Science, Law School and the School of Technology.
The students took the matriculation oath which was administered by the Secretary of the Institute, Mr. Julius Atikpui.
In her address, the director of Academic Affairs, Mrs. Gloria Appoh noted that the ceremony was the formal process of inducting fresh students into the university.
‘There are only two members of the university, the senior members, made up of the faculty and the junior members, made up of the students, we as an Institute are happy to welcome you into our fold to pursue different programmes,’ she said.
The Dean of the Graduate School of Research, Prof. Bertha Osei-Hwedie, who spoke on behalf of the Rector, Prof. Philip Ebow Bondzi-Simpson, urged the students to concentrate on their studies and abide by the rules to avoid expulsion.
She, assured the students of faculty’s preparedness to guide and shape them into the future leaders they desired to be and encouraged them to cooperate with the faculty and staff in that regard.
Prof. Osei-Hwedie assured students of the institute’s readiness to provide a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning and urged them to also do their part by paying their school fees on time.
The Dean of Students, Prof. Anthony Sallar, cautioned the students against engaging in dubious acts that may tarnish the image of the Institute and also cut short their dream.
Ms. Georgette Emefa Fugah, who spoke on behalf of the students, thanked the Institute for the opportunity and called on management to provide the requisite logistic that would enhance their studies.
The Tema campus held its matriculation ceremony on November 16th, 2018. Matriculation ceremony will be held on Takoradi campus on November 29th, 2018 and Kumasi campus on November 30th, 2018.
